The Friends of Albany Park were re-established in May of 2012. Our aim is to provide support to Park staff and take on additional tasks and projects of our own to make Albany Park a much nicer place for the local community to enjoy. We hold a meeting every three months where we vote on how we go forward, discuss concerns and issues.
Last year (2012) saw TWO FREE major events in our park as you can see on the events page, with hopefully more to follow this year. We have also been able to provide DJ/MC workshops – again free of charge, for anyone with an interest in it. These were kindly donated to us by The DJMC Academy London http://djandmcacademy.com/
We have expressed our interest in taking over the disused Bowling club and pavilion within the park to turn it into a community hub where park users and the local community can pop in for a drink or snacks. We hope (if we win the lease) to be able to provide Parent and Toddler groups, Over 50’s activities as a couple of our first sessions. Thanks to the Enfield Residents Priority Fund, we have been awarded the necessary costs (subject to the lease) to be able to bring the building up to DDA specifications so that we can offer our services to the WHOLE community. We are always wanting local opinions as to what’s needed in our area and will do everything possible to secure funding for the ideas to be turned into a reality.
Should you need any further information on any of the above, or would like to join us to really make a difference then please email us on firstname.lastname@example.org stating The Friends of Albany park in the subject line or use our interactive posts to ask any questions you may have.
We hope to see as many of you as possible using the park and getting involved.
